How long does it take to complete?

JMPS Career Check is not a “quick fix”, it is not a test which you can fail: there are no right or wrong answers. It will not trigger a computer generated/automated report! 

People find that the questions asked in JMPS Career Check act as a catalyst to asking themselves further questions as they go through the process.  People often want to take time to contemplate and reflect on their responses: go walking on a hill or a beach or somewhere else that works for them . This need for introspection is one of the reasons that JMPS Career Check is so effective in stimulating ideas about the way forward.  For this reason it is difficult to accurately assess how long it might take but you should expect it to take you 8-16 hours of personal time to input your data .

You do not have to complete it all at once, you can do it in bite sized chunks and take as long as you like to work your way through the inventories, but you can only submit it once.  Once you have submitted you will not be able to amend your inventories, but you will be able to work on your goals (Silver & Gold Accounts only).

Can I print and read it first?

You will only see one section at a time on screen but you can move from section to section at any time.  There is no requirement to print them off in advance.  Prior to submission you can read each section and return to it as many times as you like to add things or to amend your answers.

You can only submit the evaluation part and the goal setting part of JMPS Career Check Online once.  You will be able to view your Personal Career Template and My Goals report online and print them. You will also be able to print the JMPS Career Coaches comments (GOLD and DIAMOND Accounts only). 

Why can’t I make amendments after I have submitted?

JMPS Career Check Online prices are for one use/one user only. 

A GOLD Account includes the services of an experienced JMPS Career Coach to do a one off evaluation of your data and a one evaluation of your goals.  You will be able to see their comments on line and print them.

With the DIAMOND Account your JMPS Career Coach can review your data each time you save it and will make any appropriate comments.  You will be able to see their comments on line and can print them.

What is the Role of the Career Coach? (GOLD and DIAMOND versions only)

GOLD ACCOUNT

JMPS Career Coach will use their knowledge, experience and skills to review the information you have submitted and will add their comments for you to consider. You will be able to see their comments online and to print them.

DIAMOND ACCOUNT

With the DIAMOND Account your JMPS Career Coach can review your data each time you save it and will make any comments as appropriate.  You will be able to see their comments on line and to print them

You will be able to have discussions with your JMPS Career Coach via telephone and email, and in many areas of the UK up to 3 face to face meetings each of up to 2 hours duration are also provided as part of this package. Contact careercheck@jmps.co.uk to check status for your location.

Meetings in more remote UK areas, and in the rest of the world would incur additional charges for face to face meetings to cover the cost of travel time and expenses.  Contact careercheck@jmps.co.uk to check status for your location.

The JMPS Career Coach will help evaluate your current position, assist in the interpretation of your JMPS Career Check Online results, give processes for examining alternative opportunities, coach on how to use and exploit those processes, provide support and guidance when that is needed, but you would, of course, still need to invest your own effort and energy into the process.

Employers are often willing to pay the fees for this service so it is worth considering whether it is appropriate to ask for your employer’s support.

(SILVER Account does not include any JMPS Career Coach input.)

Why “Career” Check?

The fact that this activity tends to revolve mainly around career or work simply reflects the importance of work in most people’s lives.

If things are wrong in your working environment these tend to impact on your personal life and family as well. 

Without clear goals there is a risk that you will drift; many people already subscribe to the accident theory of career management but this leaves your future direction very much in the hands of other people. 

By setting your own goals you have the opportunity to take control of your own future.
